A Typical Day at Broadmoor
Parents arrive 15 minutes early on their work day to set up their project for the day. The workstations are Cooking, Art, Science & Math, Puzzles & Games, and Outside. There are usually six parents, so one parent is a “floater” and helps wherever needed.

The children are signed in by a parent or babysitter and then have free playtime until the 1st Circle. The children are encouraged but not obliged to attend Circle Time. Those not attending Circle Time need to find a quiet activity in the reading area so as not to be disruptive. Circle Time provides an opportunity for the children to cooperate, take turns, and develop self-control.

After Circle, the children are free to engage in any of the activities offered. The children may choose to participate in station activities or engage in free play. Children who are not involved in an activity will be encouraged to participate but not forced. This period of play lasts approximately 1.5 hours after which the teacher will announce last call for cooking and art projects.

The parents will begin the clean up of their workstations about 20 minutes before the end of school. Encouraged by the teacher, the children participate in the last 5 minutes of clean up. Then back to the carpet for 2nd Circle, which may consist of Sharing, Star of the Week and/or Story Time.

When 2nd Circle is over, all children go outside where they will be picked up or watched while the working parents meet with the teacher for 15 minutes to talk about the day or to discuss a parenting topic. This period of time is referred to as Talk Time.
